Human Rights Foundation (HRF), a non profit organisation noted for promotion of democracies and fight for human rights has expanded its scope to the education and development of bitcoin.
According to the foundation, though it started bitcoin development fund that focused mainly on open source bitcoin development, in 2020, it later expanded it scope beyond technical work to education on bitcoin.
Director of Financial Freedom, of HRF, Christian Keroles said such expansion would help create the space for the growth of bitcoin in Africa.
Touching on youth unemployment, he said bitcoin technology has for years created employment for people who trade on bitcoin digital platforms and hopes the adoption of bitcoin for commercial transactions would also help reduce unemployment especially in developing countries such as Ghana”.
“the idea of employment, the idea of working for money is extremely important so I think that if we fix our economies on a macro scale, at the societal level and improve on the digital payment systems, bringing people online with resources and technologies such as bitcoin would help create jobs as people engage in commercial businesses with bitcoin.
He further added that his outfit will continue to support the conveners as they work to educate Africans on the benefits of using bitcoin in transacting businesses on the continental stage.
Chief Executive and Co-founder of FEDI, Obi Nwosu during interaction with a section of the media in Accra said his outfit has in the last couple of years made efforts to empower bitcoin technology having observed its economic benefits.
He also described bitcoin as an incredible base technology in the form of money that is censorship resistant that continues to do great things.
That advantage and opportunities that are associated with bitcoin, he explained compelled FEDI to continue to support bitcoin conference for the second time while promising to continue to develop more innovative technologies to make bitcoin more useful.
He explained that given its viability over time, a lot more software and technologies were been developed to make it not only accessible but support billions of people to use the technology at a lower cost. billions of people.
Nwosu, who is also a Board member of Btrust said FEDI for instance, has developed a technology that allows communities to “take control of their money, data, communication at a high speed in a very simple way”

Present at the 3-Day event which started on Friday December 1 and ended on Sunday December 3 included bitcoin miners from US, Canada, UK, India, Denmark as well as scores of Africans trading on bitcoin platforms.
Apart from workshop sessions that characterised the event, patticipants were also entertained with variety of songs from some notable musicians from Ghana and Nigeria
Cross Okonkwo, an entrepreneur and a bitcoin miner were among some of the people who participated in a conference described by socialite as one of the heavily attended meetings recorded on bitcoin in Africa.
