The suspects
Four persons have been nabbed in a shrine at Akatapo village near Amasaman, in the Ga West Municipality for having in their possession a human head.
The four, according to information, were at the shrine for money rituals.
They are Lawson Yaw aged 52, Kwame Gbedze 20, Anane Dunyo, 39 and Wortanu Selase, 19.
The human head was in a black polythene bag placed on top of the gods in the shrine.
Police reports have indicated that the head was in an advanced state of decomposition.
However, the owner of the shrine (priest) escaped when police got to the scene.
According to the police, investigations have revealed that the owner of the shrine has been engaging in several rituals including money rituals for clients.
ASP Efia Tenge, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told DAILY GUIDE that the suspects were arrested on February 1, at about 11:00 am upon a tip-off.
She said the head was in a black polythene bag placed on top of the gods in the shrine and almost decomposed.
The police, she said, were yet to establish whether the human head belonged to the suspects arrested.
She said the priest vanished upon seeing the police but the arrested persons were inside it.
“Even though we found them at the shrine, we are yet to find out if the suspects were those who brought the head to the shrine for ritual purpose,” she said.
“The human head has been sent to the police hospital morgue for a pathologist to determine the gender and age of the deceased since the head is almost rotten”, she concluded.
