DJ Cuppy
Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola, widely known as DJ Cuppy, says she has regretted accepting a proposal from her ex-fiancé, Ryan Taylor.
Speaking at a ceremony abroad, DJ Cuppy shared insights into her personal growth, emphasising the importance of learning to say ‘No’. Reflecting on her tumultuous year, she confessed, “I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no.”
“I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to,” she indicated. She also acknowledged her tendency to overcommit, lamenting, “I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to.”
Detailing the overwhelming workload she undertook, including hosting a morning breakfast show at the BBC, DJing, planning a wedding, and pursuing studies at Oxford University, Cuppy revealed the toll it took on her wellbeing. “I burnt myself out,” she admitted, stressing the importance of prioritising self-care.
The breakup between Cuppy and Ryan Taylor occurred in July 2023, merely eight months after their engagement in November 2022. The split came as a surprise to many, prompting speculation about the reasons behind their separation.
DJ Cuppy’s introspective remarks shed light on her journey of self-discovery and the valuable lessons she’s learned along the way.
As she urged others to embrace the power of ‘No’, she emphasised the need to prioritise personal well-being and set boundaries, ultimately striving for a healthier and more fulfilling life.
