‘I Took A Break From Music To Make Money’

Samera Buari

Rapper Esbee, born Samera Buari, has disclosed that she had to take a six-year break to focus on other areas of her life which bring her money; hence, her long absence from the music scene.

She has, therefore, returned to the music scene after several years, not only because there were calls on her to make a comeback, but she is now financially stable.

“It is exciting and interesting. I am happy to come back. Before life was happening and I had to hustle. I had to take a break because music wasn’t essentially bringing money. So I had to take a break and try and make money, take care of myself and then regroup when I feel like I am in comfortable position,” she told NEWS-ONE in an exclusive interview.

Samera, who is a daughter of veteran musician Alhaji Sidiku Buari and sister of actress Nadia Buari, was a former member of defunct music group D3 made up of MzVee, Angel Bamford and Esbee.

In 2014, she released the song ‘Rebirth’ which featured Phil Blak, and this introduced Esbee as a solo artiste after breaking away from the all-girls group.

“Rebirth, because it’s the renaissances of my rap career as a solo artiste. Rap is my passion. I feel I communicate more to people through rap music,” she explained the song at the time.

She subsequently released ‘I Want’ featuring Mugeez of R2bees, but after that Esbee has been off the scene.

However, in July 2020, she made a surprise comeback with a song titled ‘You No Fit’.

“The response so far is great. It is very unexpected. One of the reasons I got back is because I got a lot of people in my DM asking when am I going back to music and they missed me, etc. So it’s being great I have a lot of people patronizing, pushing the brand and the music,” she added.
