IGP’s Special Operations Team Arrest 16 Suspected Drug Peddlers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team led by DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil and ASP Samuel Mustapha Abenzuo, has arrested 16 suspected illicit drug peddlers in Tamale, Northern Region.

The exercise, conducted across the metropolis and neighbouring communities, aimed to detect and arrest drug peddlers and abusers, robbers, thieves, gang members and others engaged in criminal activities.

The 16 suspects were arrested with army uniform, masks, cutlasses, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tramadol, and other illicit drugs.

All suspects were taken to the Sakasaka Police Station, where they remain in custody and are assisting with investigations pending possible prosecution.

DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil described the operation as successful and said it made a significant impact in curbing drug peddling and related criminal activities within the Tamale Metropolis.

The arrests come amid ongoing national efforts to address illegal drug trafficking and related crimes.
