The key suspect in the alleged murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, says there is someone after his life.
According to Daniel Asiedu, 19, aka Sexy Don Don, a certain Nigerian in the Legon police cells where he was on remand, had tried to “always fight him” and had been threatening his life, but he is now a ‘born-again’ person.
Appearing in court with two Holy Bibles in his hand, Sexy Don Don stated that he ignored the bellicose posture of his unnamed cell mate because he is a changed person who has given his life to God.
The 19-year-old phone repairer, who is standing trial for the murder of the legislator at the Accra District Court, mentioned the name of God several times in an attempt to convince the court that he is a changed man.
He was in a black shirt with two white stripes on the arms over black sweat pants when he arrived at the court in the company of the second suspect and a police CID.
Daniel Asiedu indicated that he rather called the investigator in the case to come and pick him to the Kotobabi Police Station.
The accused person made the disclosure yesterday at the Accra Central District Magistrate Court when the trial judge, Stephen Owusu, asked him about what fight was going on in the cells and how he was faring there.
The judge wondered if he (Daniel) was aware that his ears were on the ground closely monitoring developments.
Mr. Owusu stated that he was yet to confer with Augustine Obour, lawyer for the accused persons, (Daniel and other person) on the way forward in respect of a possible alternative cell to keep them.
Earlier, Chief Inspector Isaac Agbemehia, who appeared on behalf of the substantive prosecutor – Superintendent Francis Baah – said the latter was outside the country.
He said the prosecution was still waiting for the advice from the Attorney General (AG).
Lawyer Obour was, however, not in court.
Hearing continues on August 19, 2016.
Sexy Don Don is in the dock with one Vincent Booso aka Junior Agogo, a phone repairer, over the death of the NPP lawmaker.
The prosecution held that Agogo assisted Daniel Asiedu to go through the gate of the late MP and also kept watch at the gate.
Sexy Don Don has been charged with murder while Agogo faces abetment of crime, contrary to his earlier charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
In the case of Agogo, the prosecution held that at about 1:00 am on February 9, this year, at Shaishie, East Legon in Accra, he abetted Daniel to commit murder.
Daniel Asiedu, according to the prosecution, on the same day, intentionally and unlawfully caused the death of the MP.
Agogo reportedly assisted Daniel Asiedu to enter the house through the iron fence wall at the blind side of the security man who was fast asleep.
