Indian Envoy Rallies Support For Nkoranza

INDIA’S HIGH Commissioner to Ghana, Sugandh Rajaram, is leading an investment drive for the people of Nkoranza in the Bono East Region.

The High Commissioner, who was on a four-day working visit to the region, paid a courtesy call on the gazetted Omanhene of the Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, where he assured the paramount chief of pushing for Indian investors to tap into the huge investment potential in the area.

Mr. Rajaram said he would facilitate a visit for Nkoranza businessmen to meet their Indian counterparts to concretise the proposal.

The High Commissioner, accompanied by the Bono East Regional Minister, Kwasi Adu-Gyan, also promised to set up an ICT centre in the area.

The Regional Minister, until his appointment, was the Director General of the Ghana-India Kofi Annan ICT Centre in Accra.

Nana Kwame Baffoe, Board Chairman of Nick Scan, the scan company at the Tema port, the airports and warehouses, Paga, Aflao and other borders in Ghana, and also in Sierra Leone and Gambia, expressed his deep appreciation for the High Commissioner’s visit, saying that Nkoranza was ready to do business with genuine investors.

The High Commissioner, led by the Regional Minister, later took a tour of the Kintampo Water Falls and the Fuller Falls, in the Kintampo North Municipality and also the Boabeng-Fiama Monkey Sanctuary in the Nkoranza North District.

Describing the tourist sites as interesting, the Indian envoy promised to connect the region to investors to develop the sites to boost eco-tourism in the region.

He commended the chiefs and people of the region for their hospitality, saying, “We would continue to see Bono East as our second home.”

The Regional Minister further explained that tourism was another lucrative enterprise that could enhance the region’s revenue mobilisation and, therefore, appealed to the High Commissioner to help develop the sites.
