Veteran lawyer and for Member of Parliament (MP), Samuel Awuku Okudzeto, has expressed the belief that attacks on the Electoral Commission (EC) by the defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) are unjustifiable.
According to him, NDC was attacking the Electoral Commission due to its own “negligence.”
He said should not blame the EC for its defeat in the December 7, 2020 general elections but rather blame itself for being negligent and not having the right people at the polling stations to monitor the counting and collation of results.
“You cannot depend on your own negligence to go and start attacking the Electoral Commission,” he said in an interview on JoyTV monitored by DGN
“They should cry foul about the caliber of people they sent to the polling station,” he said as he urged the NDC to blame its polling station agents for its defeat and not the EC.
He wondered on what basis the NDC say they have won when they have not even finish tabulating their pink sheets.
According to him, if the NDC had issues with the election results, they should have raised those issues to the returning officers at the various polling stations and ensured that those issues were addressed.
He could not fathom on what legitimate basis former President John Mahama has rejected the results of the 2020 presidential elections.
