Jacob’s House Orphanage Marks International Literacy Day

Jacob’s House Orphanage International joined the global community in marking International Literacy Day with a special outreach at Kokomlemle School and Panama School, both located in Kokomlemle, Accra.

The African representative of the organisation, Apostle Awa Nnamdi Sunday, addressed the students under the theme “Building Mental Capacity Through Reading Books.”

His interactive session highlighted the importance of reading, encouraging learners to make it a daily habit that strengthens their future prospects.

“Literacy will give you access to become useful in society. Reading is living, and knowledge is power,” Apostle Awa told the students, inspiring them to see books as a gateway to growth and empowerment.

The programme was met with enthusiasm, with students expressing joy and eagerness for more such initiatives.

Many were particularly interested in learning more about the work of Jacob’s House Orphanage International, which has education and literacy promotion as one of its key focus areas.

International Literacy Day was established by UNESCO in 1967 to raise awareness about the importance of literacy for human dignity and as a tool to eradicate illiteracy worldwide.

Nearly six decades later, the day continues to serve as a reminder of the transformative power of education.

Jacob’s House Orphanage International used the occasion to call for continued support in its efforts to promote literacy and education among young people.
