Management of V.I.P. Jeoun Transport Company has sternly warned transport operators who have plagiarized the company’s name to stop the unlawful act or be arrested and prosecuted.
The General Manager of the company, Adakabre Kwabena Frimpong Manso, issued the warning recently after he led the police to arrest drivers of one of such transport companies registered under the same name, V.I.P. at Kwame Nkrumah Circle bus terminal in Accra.
He said the company’s name was registered in August, 2009 under the Trademarks Act of 2004 and that it was completely against the law for another company to use the same name in the same transport industry to create a lot of confusion.
“We have also officially registered VIP Tour, VIP Express and VIP International as our subsidiaries and that in registering the company’s name, we decided to paint all our buses cherry red but that is also being abused by such transport operators who also use the same colour to paint their buses,” he said.
He said from their investigations, about 28 transport operators had plagiarized the company’s name with their activities causing a lot problems for VIP Jeoun Transport Company, which has now decided to take such drastic and decisive action to stop these companies from their illegal activities.
“We have decided to instruct our lawyers to go to court to collect restraining orders, which would be published in all the dailies and after that enforce the order,” he said, stressing that after the publication of the restraining order any transport company, which goes contrary to that will be made to face the law.
The General Manager said what was most disturbing was that most of these transport companies using the company’s name do not use properly trained bus drivers leading to fatal accidents on the roads.
He noted that when these accidents happened with buses painted VIP, the travelling public was made to believe that it was original VIP buses that got involved in such fatal accidents
“When it comes to our company, we have properly trained drivers who ensure that passengers get to their destinations safely,” he said, stressing that all their buses are comprehensively insured and that in case of any eventuality, passengers will fully benefit from insurance packages.
He advised the travelling public to continue to patronize the services of VIP Jeoun Transport Company since it was prepared to give the best of services to travelers travelling to all its 36 destinations.
