Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana

The Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana has expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for introducing the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO) initiative aimed at addressing unemployment in the country.

According to the group, the launch of the programme will “bring a tremendous relief to most unemployed graduate and those of us who wanted an opportunity to set up our own businesses.”

A press statement signed by Gabriel Asante, a founding member of the association, thanked the President for his “visionary leadership.

The launch of the initiative is a stepping stone to engage the unemployed graduates to give them employable skills and also a life of dignity.

The statement noted that the policy has the tendency of employing the majority of unemployed graduates, if not all of them.

The Nation Builders’ Corps initiative was launched by President Akufo-Addo in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on May 1, 2018 to address the perennial unemployment, which has become a canker in the country.

The initiative is by far the most comprehensive policy aimed at creating jobs for university graduates in the country.

Under the initiative, 100,000 jobs would be provided for the unemployed graduates in the country this year.

“NABCO will enhance the dignity and self-esteem of our graduates, and will also present them with the added benefit of efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of some essential public services,” President Akufo-Addo declared at the launch of the initiative.

NABCO has prioritized seven modules; Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitise Ghana, Enterprise Ghana and Civic Ghana. Beneficiaries are guaranteed a monthly stipend of GH?700.
