John BoaduÂ
ACTING GENERAL Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ended his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, with a firm pledge to establish a complaint secretariat for the party in the region.
The secretariat is to be known as the Situation Room and shall operate from the Asylum Down National Headquarters of the NPP.
Mr. Boadu has enjoyed overwhelming endorsements from party delegates in all the regions he had so far visited and appears to be the favorite for the substantive General Secretary job, having helped to secure victory for the NPP in 2016 in an acting capacity and as well as the National Organizer of the party.
He is campaigning on the promise of empowering the grassroots of the ‘elephant’ party and strengthening the rank and file of the NPP for victory 2020 and beyond.
Mr. Boadu in a brief interaction with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to round up the 5-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, said the Situation Room shall be responsible for receiving complaints, reports and general communications from the party’s grassroots, particularly constituency executives, for prompt action.
According to him, each of the 10 regions of the country shall have a special communications desk in the Situation Room and shall be responsible for liaising with the various constituencies in the respective regions.
He further stated that each constituency secretary shall be required to submit monthly reports on activities of the party, particularly the relationship between party and local government to national secretariat, through the Situation Room.
The Tour
During the tour, Mr. Boadu visited the 34 constituencies in the region with the exception of Okaikoi South and Adenta which are yet to hold their constituency primaries.
The last phase of the tour saw him visiting Ada, Sege, Ningo-Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, Ashaiman, Tema East, Tema Central, Tema West, Shai Osudoku and Madina constituencies, as well as the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where he climaxed his regional tour.
