Otumfuo with Juabenhene
ASANTE JUABENHENE, Nana Otuo Serebuo, has joined the National House of Chiefs, as one of the five representatives of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs.
Significantly, he is to replace the Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, who was one of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs representatives, but died few months ago.
The other four members are Nana Okyere Kusi Aduako II, Essumegyahene; Nana Effah-Appenteng, Bompatahene; Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, Kumawuhene and Baffour Owusu Bediako II, Domeabrahene.
Juabenhene’s nomination to the National House of Chiefs was officially announced during a meeting of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, which was held in Kumasi.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who supervised the meeting, in announcing the nomination of the Juabenhene, said Nana Otuo Serebuo has wide experience, hence his nomination.
“Nananom, I have appointed Nana Otuo Serebuo to replace the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu at the National House of Chiefs,” he remarked and added, “He is to join the four other representatives.”
According to Otumfuo, the Juabenhene was first elected to the National House of Chiefs way back in 1975, which is 50 years ago, stressing that Nana Otuo Serebuo has the wherewithal to represent the region.
Wishing the Juabenhene well on his new appointment, the Asante monarch also called for total unity and oneness among the five representatives of the region so they could be of immense benefit to the country.
Juabenhene is well-educated and knowledgeable, as he has held different key positions and contributed to national growth in the past. He is the immediate past chairman of the Council of State.
