The winners and officials displaying their trophies
Jude Asiedu resisted stiff opposition from three-time champion Eric Okyere and Emmanuel Amos-Banyie to win the 8th edition of Gold Fields Internal Tennis Tourney- Tarkwa.
In-form Jude Asiedu lived up to expectations of his teeming fans who urged him on to ease past Emmanuel Amos-Banyie 9-8(6)and 9-5 in the top three round robin game.
Eunice Mintah and Tracy Ampah were the finalists with Eunice Mintah winning 9-7 to lift the ladies trophy in the women’s event.
In the women’s doubles: Tracy Ampah and Georgina Adusei early on defeated Eunice Minta and her sister Roseline Afari-Minta in the final which was keenly contested.
Tracy again paired up with Osman Karim and ousted former champions Eric Okyere and Ruby Sanoah in the mixed doubles category.
In the men’s doubles, change of doubles partner did not do any help for Eric Okyere as he lost to Jude Asiedu and Prince Avane. Michale Bonsu won the Veterans singles with Gideon Asakpo being the runner up.
Vice Chairman of Tarkwa Tennis Club, Godfred Avane, Captain Edward Taylor and John Nii Moi Allotey presented prizes to the winners and runners up.
The 8th edition of Goldfields Internal Tennis Tourney was sponsored by Engineers and Planners and supported by Classic Cristken Limited, Boison Construction Limited and K. Kansco.
Engineers and Planners General Manager, Tarkwa Site, Emmanuel Erskine, Derick Denutsui E&P IT Manager and Daniel Tweneboah E&P Technical Service Manager and Project Manager were all present to represent their CEO. They were full of praise to the club for the successful organization of the tournament.
