KiDi and Richie Mensah
CEO of Lynx Group Ltd, Richie Mensah, has reportedly said that the music video for KiDi’s hit single “Say Cheese” was produced on a shoestring budget of just GH₵200.
Richie made the disclosure on the debut episode of his new podcast, MasterMinds, where he explained that the low cost was a result of restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite its modest budget, the video went on to become one of KiDi’s biggest successes.
KiDi released ‘Say Cheese’ in April 2020 as part of his Blue EP.
The song quickly became a hit, loved for its catchy beat and playful lyrics.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions at the time, the official video had to be shot in a very simple way.
Even with the low budget, the video was a success. It’s a fun and light style that matched the song perfectly, helping ‘Say Cheese’ gain huge attention online and on the airwaves.
The track became one of Ghana’s biggest songs of 2020 and showed how creativity can shine even without a big budget.
