Kids Deserve Protection

A woman is in trouble for causing serious bodily harm to a four-year-old kid in her care at Ashaiman. She is said to have made the girl stand in boiling water, a wicked act which resulted in the kid suffering burns to parts of her body including her private part.

In yet another act of inordinate cruelty, a man is on the run after defiling an 8-year-old girl in a suburb of Kumasi.

The girl was said to be returning home from school when the evil man lured her into an uncompleted building.

The foregone are not without precedence. This makes us conclude that many people have not learnt lessons from such incidents.

Such unusual conducts on the part of some people should serve as adequate lessons for parents some of who take things for granted.

Children require special care especially in environments where such wicked acts continue to be recorded.

In the case of the 8-year-old girl in Kumasi, she was returning from school when the human beast lured her into an uncompleted building and mercilessly defiled her.

In cases where the distances between homes and schools are long, parents and mothers especially, should take the pain to take them to and from such locations.

The human predator should have been observing the movement of the kid and when he decided upon an opportune time, he simply pounced on her.

In one of our commentaries, we made an observation about the animal kingdom where defilement is not known to take place. Animals will only mate with the opposite sex only when that partner is ready for such engagement.

In the human world however, it is common for adults to defile kids some of them as young as six years.

We are compelled to wonder sometimes whether those who do this are not psychiatric patients who require attention in an appropriate facility. It is simply unimaginable that in some cases, a thirty-year old would defile an eight-year kid regardless of the screams of pain from the victim.

In the other case of cruelty, a woman is in court for exhibiting cruelty to a kid. The practice of entrusting kids to neighbours or even family members is something which should be done sparingly.

Not all hosts of such kids are kind enough to tolerate the usual shortcomings of young children and would therefore subject them to unusual ordeal when they are incensed.

Putting a child in a container of boiling water is beyond our ken because, it is just too much.

In both cases, the law must be made to deal with the suspects and the lessons thereof learnt by all.

In the case of the brute who defiled the kid, the police should hunt him down because he is a danger to society and would continue to unleash his inordinate libido on many more kids when he is not restrained through a prison sentence.
