Klikor Agbozome Central Band
Klikor Agbozome Central Band in the Volta Region has been adjudged the overall winner of a brass band competition organised for brass band groups within Agbozome-Klikor in the Volta Region.
The competition was organised by Frando Musik Klinikum directed by Dr. Frank Hukporti, who doubles as the director of the Ghana Police Band.
Other brass band groups that took part in the competition are Thy Will Band, Strohume, Unity Band Klikor, Anglican Church Band, Divine Brass Band, Agbozome, Afife Central Band and River of Life Brass Band.
For their prize, the band received conducting sticks, music manuscript, books, Ghana Praise hymnal book, three music stands, and a cash prize.
The Will Band came second while River Of Life and Afife Central Band took the third and fourth place.
They also received some conducting sticks and cash prizes.
The Director and Chief Executive Officer of Frando Musik Klinikum, Dr. Frank Hukporti in an interview with BEATWAVES said the competition was organised to unearth music talents of the youth of the area.
He said Frando Musik Klinikum aim is to develop the talents of the youth who would want to go into music.
“Some of the youth believe that those who would want to learn the musical instruments are those interested in joining the security services, but with music, one can go into teaching at all levels and undertake other jobs,” he disclosed.
He said as music expert, he is also involved in the training of young ones on how to play the musical instruments, which also help in their classwork.
In Accra, “we have been teaching brigade bands how to play the instruments and they are also doing so well.”
Chief Inspector Elikplim Adzroe, also in charge of the Ghana Police Music Academy, who was one of the judges for the event said he discovered various talents in the youth who participated in the competition.
According to him, these persons needed to be groomed to come out brave, adding “They will take Ghana Music to greater height when they are properly groomed.”
The Paramount Chief of Klikor, Torgbuiga Addo VIII, in a remark encouraged other youth groups to partake in the next competition.
He urged organisers of the competition to alert the leaders of the town to cancel funerals and other social activities in their next competition to enable several others take part in the competition since it could bring togetherness among the youth.
