Dr Kyei with the trophy
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei has been crowned as the Sports CEO of the Year at the Pan African Enterprise and Achievers Honorary awards.
Dr Kyei’s honour crowned an enterprising year where he steered the Porcupine Warriors to win the MTN FA Cup as well as to finish fourth in the premier league.
At the ceremony organised by the Bureau of Research on Governance, Commerce and Administration in partnership with the Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute, the Kotoko CEO was recognized for his contributions to the transformation of the club.
Dr Kyei took over the administration of the club last season after the Opoku Nti-led administration was dissolved following series of uninspiring performances by the Kumasi-based club.
However, Dr Kyei’s has managed to introduce some reforms to the administration which has earned the club the FA Cup and a ticket to play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Following that feat, the awards committee decided to bestow on him the honour for the outstanding achievement and the significant impact he made to transform the fortunes of the club both on and off the field.
During his appreciation remarks, Dr Kyei felt humbled by the honour and hoped it would spur him on to achieve more for the club and also expressed gratitude to the organisers for acknowledging his effort.
