Simeon Kwaku Tetteh
THE Office of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has rubbished bribery allegations against the MCE.
One of the media outlets in Krobo on Tuesday reported that the MCE, Simeon Kwaku Tetteh, was moving around the electoral areas giving money to the assembly members to endorse a statement that seeks to have him reappointed as MCE.
However, in a rebuttal, the office of the MCE noted that the said publication was false and was being masterminded by his opponents who are also lobbying for the same position.
The statement noted that Mr. Simeon Tetteh has been one of the most hardworking and competent MCEs, the residents of Krobo land have ever had.
According to the statement, they had believed in him that’s why the assembly members gave him the 100% endorsement in 2017 and he has proved his worth by undertaking a marvellous job in the area, and also changed the face of politics in the Krobo area.
The assembly members last week, led by the Convenor, Mr. Raymond E. K. Gborson, on behalf of the 27 assembly members out of 31, signed a petition to the presidency in an appeal to get their MCE to get reappointed.
According to the assembly members’ letter to the President, “Mr. Simeon Kwaku Tetteh has justified the confidence we reposed in him. He has maintained a cordial and excellent working relationship with the assembly members, chiefs, queen mothers and the party faithful.”
“Until he was nominated MCE in 2017, he was an elected Assembly Member for Nuaso Newtown Electoral Area from 2005 to 2017,” the members indicated, adding that “under his leadership, the municipality witnessed over eighty (80) projects in the areas of education, security, sanitation, roads, agriculture, markets and the unprecedented extension of electricity to overstretched areas of the municipality.”
The assembly members said, “These projects have been completed and are in use whilst others are at various stages of completion”, adding that “as development agents, we are of the firm belief that if he is allowed to stay on, these projects will be completed to the benefit of all and that will help to boost the image of the party in the municipality.”
They said, “Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh has been the best Municipal
Chief Executive we have ever worked with. He has worked hard for the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Project currently underway at the Agormanya market, that is the construction of 188 lockable stores.”
They added that “As elected Assembly Members of Lower Manya Krobo, we are grateful to Ghanaians for giving the President a second term to do more. It is on the back of this we are also asking for a second term for Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh to do more for the good people of Lower Manya Krobo, we promise to give him as the President’s nominee a first-round endorsement on the day of his confirmation.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Klomahengme’, a pressure group on Krobo land and the market women have also added their voice, calling on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reappoint Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh as the Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya.
According to the group, the outgoing MCE has performed and contributed massively to development in the area ranging from health, education, security, agriculture, sanitation, roads, water and all aspect of development, hence need the second term to continue.
