This year’s Christmas celebrations at Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel, Accra, commenced officially on Sunday, December 2 with the lighting of the prime hotel’s Christmas tree by ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The 2018 Christmas tree lighting ceremony is the third of its kind for Kempinski, and it was attended by several individuals from all walks of life, including traditional leaders, ambassadors and heads of institutions.
The colourful ceremony lasted for about three hours amid merry-making. Kempinski Christmas tree lighting ceremony is a tradition that the hotel honours every year.
In a brief remark immediately after lighting the tree, Mr. Kufuor wished Ghanaians and the rest of global citizens a merry Christmas.
He prayed that this year’s Christmas brings smiles on the faces of everyone.
The General Manager of Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel, Manish Nambiar, stated that “this is our favourite time of the year where the hotel is in full swing with special events to make everyone merry.”
He added that tree lighting ceremony is a tradition “which brings together all our cherish clients, guests, family and friends. As we partake in the festive cheer and magic of the season, may we remember to share warmth and happiness and be thankful for the year that has passed and the year to come. Afehyiapa.”
The celebration ushered in the start of the festive season with a remarkable music concert featuring Kinder Paradise, AccraGio, students from Ghana International School, Lincoln Community School Band and Musicians Without Borders.
Guests blended with the festive aura in their festive outfits as they sipped on signature cocktails and munched on tasty Christmas-themed culinary offerings.
