Kwabena Agyepong
In a surprising turn of events, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, one of the ten aspirants in the NPP’s special electoral college elections, has declared his support for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid.
The former General Secretary of the ruling party has joined Bawumia’s campaign team, sparking speculation about the Vice President’s chances of becoming the next President of Ghana.
Agyepong was spotted with Dr Bawumia during the Vice President’s recent visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) graduation ceremony.
The two were seen engaging in friendly and joyful interactions on flight Accra to Kumasi, indicating a strong bond between them.
This endorsement comes on the heels of a recent meeting between Bawumia, his wife Mrs Samira Bawumia, and Agyepong.
The meeting took place in Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region, where they attended a church service to commemorate the anniversary of Agyepong’s late parent.
The alliance between Bawumia and Agyepong has sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape, as Agyepong is a well-respected figure within the party and a former presidential candidate aspirant.
His support could potentially sway the opinions of many party members and voters ahead of the upcoming presidential elections.
With this endorsement, Bawumia’s campaign team is expected to gain momentum and attract more supporters. Agyepong’s extensive political experience and his connection to the previous NPP administration under John Agyekum Kufuor make him a valuable asset to Bawumia’s bid for the presidency.
