Kafui Danku
Actress Kafui Danku has started a campaign to raise financial support for kids suffering from kwashiorkor.
The move is part of her social responsibility to give back to society.
She stated that kids with kwashiorkor also deserve a chance to survive and called on her colleagues and philanthropists to join her save the children.
Kwashiorkor is a form of severe protein malnutrition characterised by edema and an enlarged liver with fatty infiltrates, and it is most common in sub-Saharan Africa.
There are some kids living with the condition in Ghana and Kafui and her production team are poised to support them out of their situation.
As a result, her ABC Pictures Limited, in collaboration Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital and Zeeland Fun World, will launch ‘Ghana Power Kids Charity Ball’ at the Zeeland Fun World at Legon City Mall on May 26.
This involves raising funds through inviting the general public to bring their kids to play with celebrity kids.
Funds will be raised through ticket sales and all proceeds will be donated to the kwashiorkor unit of the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra.
“This is a project that I hold very dear to my heart and would appreciate your support. Bring your kids and let’s play to support. Tell a friend to tell a friend. It’s all for a good cause. These kids deserve a chance to survive,” Kafui stated.
