Last week, Kweikuma Cultural Group’s week-long workshop and training program for a few chosen up-and-coming cultural groups in Agona Swedru in the Central Region came to a conclusion.
This comes after a grant from its sponsors, which was established to help various up-and-coming cultural groups.
Kweikuma Cultural Group has in the past imparted its wealth of knowledge to energetic young groups in various regions of Ghana.
In order to expand their repertoire, the groups took part in practical sessions on the production of contemporary dance pieces while being guided through procedures that will allow them to produce their own adaptations of traditional dance pieces.
The drummers in the various groups were also introduced to different Ghanaian rhythms and given guidance on how to successfully blend them to produce new rhythms.
The groups at the workshop expressed their genuine gratitude to the sponsor for their support while praising Kweikuma for protecting Ghanaian culture via music and dance.
They urged young people to embrace and support their culture.
The Kweikuma Cultural Group has given performances and conducted workshops across the nation.
