A FOOD processing factory will soon take-off in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s One-District One-Factory flagship policy.
The traditional authorities at the predominantly fishing community were said to have already allocated acres of land for the siting of the factory by Chinese investors, LeeFound Food Company.
This was made known when management of the yet to be established company went to finalise the deal with the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly to begin the project somewhere in June, 2018.
Mrs. Catheine Noella Numbuo, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Trade under the Ministry of Trade and Industries, stated that the breakdowns for recruiting and other negotiations with the company had been carried out.
She noted that government has released funds for electrification and construction of roads to every One-District-One-Factory company in the country.
On its part, the management of LeeFound Company expressed its readiness and commitment for the project, and appealed to government to sustain the policy.
For his part, the District Chief Executive of the Ningo-Prampram Assembly, Mr. Jonathan Paanii Doku also pledged the Assembly’s support for the project.
He urged the investors to patronise the raw materials from local farmers in the district and consider the residents in the recruiting exercise.
He appealed to the investors to bring other initiatives aside the One-District-One-Factory.
The One-District, One Factory policy by the President Akufo-Addo led administration is a major component of the NPP’s industrial transformation agenda which seeks, among others, to add value to raw materials that abound in the country while creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the country.
It also seeks to create wealth for people along the various stages of the agricultural value-chain and ultimately contribute towards making Ghana an industrial hub in the West African sub-region.
