THE GENERAL Overseer of House of Jacob Chapel in Kumasi, Apostle Attah K. Gyebi, has appealed to religious organisations especially churches to partner government in strategic interventional initiatives to expedite national development.
The Apostle was speaking at the Manhyia Local Prisons in Kumasi on Monday when he donated assorted items including bags of rice, clothes, creates of eggs, cartons of milk, toiletries and a cash of GHȼ1000 to the inmates for their upkeep.
According to him, the donation was his church’s way of strategically supporting government in addressing the plight of the vulnerable people toward attaining national development.
Apostle K. Gyebi noted that the high rate of crimes in the society, leading to increase in inmates at the various prisons puts a heavy toll on the government’ ability to single-handedly provide proper care for the inmates.
According to statistics, about 50 inmates are transferred to the Manhyia Local Prison every six months, a development which puts the facility in a difficult condition.
This situation, the preacher said, moved him to extend a helping hand to the facility, and appealed to other religious organisations, companies and private individuals to support government to develop the nation.
Receiving the items, the chaplain of the prison, Rev. Amoh Mensah, said government recognises and appreciates the initiative of the church, and appealed to other churches to emulate it.
