Lovin C
The organisers of the Ghana DJ Awards have announced that Ghana’s veteran broadcaster and DJ, William Des Bordes, popularly known as Lovin C, will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s awards ceremony.
The organisers said, “We are honouring Lovin C for his outstanding contribution to ‘deejaying’ in Ghana”, adding that Lovin C deserved to be honoured for his contribution to the development of the disc jockey industry.
According to the organisers, the veteran DJ, who has performed on numerous local and international platforms, has won many local and international awards.
His career spans over decades across numerous night clubs and media houses, including Deustche Welle (DW), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Multimedia Group Limited, Kapital Radio, Fox FM, Fox Trap night club, KIRA-VI night club, among others.
This year’s edition of the Ghana DJ Awards will take place on November 21, 2020 at The Silver Star Tower.
Before the main awards ceremony, the organisers will host a DJ workshop dubbed “The DJ Clinic” on November 21 at the Silver Star Tower in Accra.
The awards scheme is an exciting event designed to foster the development of the Ghana music industry by rewarding and celebrating radio, mobile and club disc jockeys (DJs) who have excelled in their fields of endeavour.
Since its inception in 2012, the awards scheme has hosted a number of talented local and international DJs as well as performing artistes on its platform.
It has also received great reviews and massive endorsements from industry stakeholders through its pub activation events dubbed “Pub Fest” which has visited over 60 major pubs across the country.
Previous ceremonies have witnessed performances from some of the international DJs such as DJ Neptune, DJ Jimmy Jatt from Nigeria, DJ Diva Lash from South Africa, DJ Nash from France, DJ Kofi from UK, among others.
It has also witnessed performances from some of the local DJs such as DJ Hubert, DJ Mic Smith, DJ Young Joe, Kofi Dixon, DJ Mensah, DJ Slim, DJ Bryte, DJ Black, DJ Que, DJ Switch (Ghana’s youngest DJ), DJ Vyrusky and a host of others.
Local artistes who have also graced the previous ceremonies include Medikal, Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Darko Vibes, Stonebwoy, MzVee, Kwaw Kesse, among others.
