Mahama 24/7 Night Clubbing Promise Sparks Controversy In NDC

The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sparked controversy with its latest manifesto promise to allow nightclubs to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The promise, made by former President John Mahama, has been met with skepticism and criticism from various quarters including the NDC.

Manifesto Promise

According to the NDC manifesto, a Mahama presidency would ensure that the “hospitality industry, our restaurants, our nightclubs, hotels, discotheques 24/7, 24-hours a day, three shifts every day.”

Critics Question Feasibility

However, Yaw Boateng Gyan, former National Organizer for the NDC, has questioned the practicality of the plan

“Will they be called Day clubs? There is a reason why they are called nightclubs. Who should go and be there and dance for 24 hours?” he asked in an interview on Accra-based OKAY FM.

Koku Anyidoho Expresses Embarrassment

Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy General Secretary for the NDC, has also expressed shock and embarrassment at Mahama’s announcement.

“I have spoken to NDC national executives who say they are very embarrassed by this JM policy because it was not part of their input. JM is talking for himself and NOT for NDC,” he tweeted.

This is not the first time former President John Dramani Mahama has faced criticism for his economic policies.

In 2014, his government was criticized for the high cost of living and economic mismanagement.

Expert Analysis

Meanwhile, Economic experts have also weighed in on the issue, questioning the potential impact on the economy and society.

“While the idea of a 24-hour economy may seem appealing, it is crucial to consider the potential consequences on employment, health, and safety,” said one expert.
