Mahama Has Made 20 Promises Ahead Of 2016 Elections – IMANI

Policy think tank, IMANI Ghana has disclosed that the governing National Democratic Congress has so far made 20 promises ahead of the December 7 general elections.

According to IMANI, the party, prior the 2012 election made more than 500 promises but “only 12 were quantifiable.”

This was revealed on The Big Issue by President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe who said they are still compiling that of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).He said the think tank will on August 25, 2016 release a full report on the promises made by the various political parties.

“On August 25th, we are going to do a presentation analyzing the promises made so far. As we speak, we are still counting, the PPP has made 48 promises, CPP, 38, NDP, 44, PNC, 62, we are tallying that of the NPP but NDC has made 20 so far. They made 541 the last time and only 12 were measurable. The number of quantifiable promises as we count so far:  PPP, 4, CPP, 4, NDP, 1, NDC 5, we are still counting that of the NPP,” he added.

Franklin Cudjoe explained that “ we are going to do a proper presentation on quantifiable, quasi-quantifiable and empty based on the economy of the country and the projection of how the economy will be like, I think those things are very useful.”

NDC launches campaign

The NDC last Sunday launched its campaign at Cape Coast in the Central Region to canvass for votes ahead of the December polls.

Leadership of the party has announced they will launch their manifesto in the coming weeks in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

NPP manifesto out by end of August – Freddie Blay

The NPP, has also disclosed that it will launch its 2016 manifesto by end of August.

According to the acting National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Freddie Blay, the delay in launching the party’s manifesto was to primarily avoid other political parties especially the NDC from plagiarizing its policies.
