Man Arrested For Breaching Security At Ya Na Palace

The Yendi District Court has remanded Muniru Musah into police custody for unlawful possession of ammunition at the palace of the regent of Dagbon at Yendi in the Northern Region.

The suspect is expected to reappear in court on May 4, 2017.

Muniru Musah, 26, was arrested by the security personnel stationed at the Gbewa Palace for unlawful entering the security zone.

A search was conducted by the security personnel on the accused person and he was quickly handed over to the police in the area.

Some residents claimed the suspect attempted to assassinate the regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani on Thursday around 12:30am.

Both royal families have assured President Akufo-Addo that they would maintain peace in the region.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the suspect was arrested at the regent’s palace with ammunition without a gun.

According to him, when security personnel questioned the suspect over his action, he indicated that he came there to look for somebody but lost his way at the palace.

ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko stated that the suspect had been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition without lawful authority.

The situation is under control and security at the palace has been enhanced so residents should not to panic, he indicated.
