Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi – MCE for Ejisu
THERE WAS drama at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, after a man stormed the place to seize a vehicle of the assembly.
The man, identified as Okeseku Mintah Asare, claimed the assembly owed him GH¢4,500, being the cost he had incurred in a court case between him and the assembly.
He, therefore, got to the assembly in the company of a bailiff and they managed to drive away a Ford vehicle belonging to the assembly’s Information Services Unit.
Explaining his actions on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Mintah Asare said the assembly destroyed his fence wall and flowers “when Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh was the MCE for the area.”
According to him, he dragged the assembly to a High Court in Kumasi and demanded damages against the assembly for unlawfully causing destruction to his properties.
Mintah Asare said the current MCE for Ejisu, Serwah Derkyi, upon assumption of office, passionately appealed to him to drop the court case which he obliged.
“I, however, told the MCE that even though I will not proceed with the court case, the assembly should bear the cost that I had incurred for taking the matter to court,” he said.
Mintah Asare said the assembly was refusing to settle the GH¢4,500 cost and so he proceeded to court again and secured an order to seize a vehicle of the assembly.
