Man Stabbed Over Phone Charger

A 43-YEAR-old man has been hospitalised after he was stabbed for refusing to surrender his bag, containing a mobile phone charger and clothes to some suspected robbers.

John Antwi Walter, the victim, is currently on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, where he is receiving treatment, a police document has disclosed.

It said the Airport Police Night Patrol Team found the victim with multiple knife wounds all over his body and lying in a pool of blood at the Serwaah Nyarko Junction around 3:30am on May 11, 2022.

Antwi Walter, who was looking very weak after losing a lot blood, was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital, but he was later referred to KATH since his condition was deteriorating.

“On 11/05/2022, at about 0330 hours, information received from the Ashanti Control Room indicated that someone was stabbed and he was lying at Serwaah Nyarko Junction.

“Airport Night Patrol Team proceeded to the scene and met a male adult with multiple wounds on his body, lying in a pool of blood with a bag. He was rushed to Manhyia District Hospital for treatment but was referred to KATH where he was admitted,” the police report stressed.

Antwi Walter told the police that he was searching for a car at that ungodly hour to Krofrom, where he resides, when three young men on a motorbike attacked him with knives after he refused to surrender his bag to them.

“According to the victim, he came from Accra and was standing at Serwaah Nyarko Junction in search of a vehicle to Krofrom where he resides, and three young men on a motorbike accosted him and attempted to snatch his bag containing some clothes and a phone charger.

“But he resisted and they stabbed him with a knife, and left him without taking anything away from him,” the police report sighted by DAILY GUIDE pointed out.

Meanwhile, the police have assured that they would do everything possible to locate and apprehend the ‘wicked’ suspects to face prosecution.
