THINGS ARE not looking good for the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Manhyia South Constituency, in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region.
Scores of angry NDC members in the constituency are up in arms against their Constituency Chairman, one Alhassan, who they accused of planning to use dubious means to hang onto his position, as he had done in the last 12 years.
The agitated NDC members said they have had enough of Chairman Alhassan’s ‘dirty’ tricks so they would strongly oppose him this time around.
Ahmed Saeed, NDC Branch Chairman, Afia Kobi Electoral Area, said on radio that Alhassan and his executives have hung onto power for 12 years now.
According to him, anytime there was an election, Alhassan would adopt some dubious means which would ensure that the executives contest the election unopposed.
Ahmed alleged that Alhassan, as typical of him, recently handpicked some people as the party’s branch executives, an action which other members including him (Ahmed) opposed.
He claimed it was part of Alhassan’s ploy to retain him and his executives in office.
Ahmed disclosed that the aggrieved NDC members in the area, recently, protested to the party’s General Secretary, Asiedu Nketiah, about Alhassan’s dubious tactics.
According to him, Asiedu Nketiah saw sense in their complaint, so he quickly ordered that the branch elections in the constituency be suspended.
He stated that the aggrieved NDC members in the Manhyia South Constituency would soon hit the streets to demonstrate against Alhassan’s incorrigible attitude.
