THE KUMASI Mayor, Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi, has urged a Chinese business delegation to take advantage of the government’s ‘One District, One Factory’ policy by investing in the country.

According to him, the country, especially Kumasi, is a peaceful and vibrant city which is very fertile for investment hence the Chinese businessmen should take advantage of it.

“The government of Ghana has introduced ‘One District, One Factory’ programme and I will urge you to take advantage of that policy by building more factories in Kumasi so you can make huge returns from your investments”, he emphasised.

Mr Osei Assibey was speaking when a government and business delegation from the Chang Chun City in the Ji Lin Province in China paid a courtesy call on him in his office at Adum in Kumasi.

The Chinese delegation was in the city to explore and figure out possible areas that their businessmen can invest in. They also discussed a possible sister-city relationship between Kumasi and Chang Chun City.

The Kumasi Mayor said Kumasi boasts of several areas that Chinese businessmen can invest in.

“There are more opportunities in the railway sector, the Inland Port project at Boankra, construction of hostels and the building of high rising car parks, just to mention a few, where you can invest and make huge returns.”

Mr Assibey also stated that there is a housing regeneration in Kumasi, where more modern houses can be built to accommodate the swelling population.

The Kumasi Mayor assured the Chinese delegation that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who owns all lands in Asanteman, would readily give out lands to Chinese businessmen that are willing to construct factories to boost the economy.

Mr. Liu Nai Jun, the Director of Commerce for Chang Chun City in China, on his part, stated that his city is ready to partner with the KMA so that the two cities can work together to create wealth for the mutual benefit of their people.
