McDan’s Warehouse Demolished

A scene during the demolition

A warehouse owned by Executive Chairman of the McDan Group, Daniel McKorley, has been allegedly demolished by National Security operatives.

The demolition of the structure, sited next after Action Chapel on the Spintex road, is said to have started on Tuesday at 7pm.

According to eyewitnesses and workers on-site, several excavators were involved in the exercise, with the land alleged to be under litigation between the Ghana Airports Company and McDan Group.

Meanwhile, a journalist with JoyNews, Carlos Calony, is said to have been assaulted and detained by the alleged National Security operatives while reporting on the demolition of the warehouse, although it is still unclear why the men in military uniform assaulted him.

A video which has since gone viral on social media shows a young man been physically assaulted by the men in military uniform at the construction site.

A worker of the company was heard telling a media outlet that the men in uniform had earlier come to inspect the place. When they returned, they did so with a bulldozer which developed a fault and was replaced by another one.

“When we asked to be allowed to go and pick our belongings, they said that it was too late,” one of the workers was overheard narrating their ordeal.
