Melcom Builds Clinic, Office Complex For Ningo-Prampram Assembly

The Melcom Care has constructed and commissioned a state of the art health facility at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra region as part of efforts of bringing healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of the people in the area.

Melcome Ghana has also constructed an office complex in the same area for the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly to be used as District Council by the Assembly.

The edifice has a theater, sterilisation, changing room, Out-Patient Department (OPD), scan office, family planning department, laboratory, physician room, lobby room, pharmacy, delivery room, and consulting rooms, among others.

Commissioning the facility on behalf Melcom Ghana, Godwin Avenorgbo, Melcom Group Communications Director pointed out that these projects form part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to impact the lives of the residents through health.

According to him, “This donation we are making today is only the beginning of a venture that will bring development, employment opportunities and modern efficient service delivery to this area.”

He explained that the gesture is to lessen the numerous burden on the government since government cannot do it alone hence the need to support through the projects as well as create jobs through the opening of Melcom shops across the 16 regions of the country.

According to him, “Today Melcom Care takes another giant leap into the future by living the Melcom Good Corporate Citizenship Dream of impacting lives positively and we do this in conformity with our chosen pillars for customer service initiative – education and health”.

“In line with this desire for the public good that Melcom is motivated to undertake the construction of an office block and a health centre for the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly for the benefit of residents in this densely populated area of the Greater Accra Region,” Communications Director for Melcom Group said.

He disclosed that plans are far advanced for Melcom to open the biggest shopping mall in the country this year, saying that “We are expanding territory, 50 shops in Ghana currently plus 2 other mini shops. That’s a lot and we are going to open very soon the largest shopping mall in this country. It’s going to be bigger than all the shopping malls in Ghana put together and I can tell you this will happen before the end of the year.”

“Mainly family planning is our main problem because at Dawhenya health centre privacy is a problem but looking at the rooms here, we can have privacy for our people”.

On his part, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Latif Tetteh Amanor made a passionate appeal to the District Health
Directorate and staff to cultivate a good maintenance culture to ensure cleanliness and longevity of the equipment that the facility would be resourced with.

He further appealed to the members of Prampram Area Council to also cultivate the culture of good maintenance to prolong the life span of this structure.

He assured that his outfit will continue to provide enabling environment for business to come to the area and thrive.

The Paramount Chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Waka III, appealed to Melcom Ghana and other businesses in the traditional area to reserve jobs for the youth in the area.

Meanwhile, District Chief Nursing Officer, Sylvia Arde-Acquah expressed happiness of having a facility that will ensure the privacy of patients.

She explained that the size of the current clinic in the community does not encourage women to go for the services of family planning since there is no privacy but was optimistic that the construction of the new facility will see encouragement in birth control in the area.
