Minister Cuts Sod For Upper West Youth Resource Centre

Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah on Saturday took the multipurpose sports Centre of Excellence sod cutting to the Upper West Region, Wa (Dondoli).

The Minister pointed out that the philosophy of the project is linked to the great philosopher Archimedes that “Give me a place to stand and I will move the earth.”

He said “My government finds creative ways to ensure youth development. We are going to produce more sporting talents through this project. “Talents abound here, all you need is the enabler; that is the Akufo-Addo government for you. I remember all the national records that were broken in the last national sports festival came from the Upper West.”

Chief Executive Officer, National Youth Authority (NYA), Emmanuel Asigiri, promised that his outfit will continue to create platforms for youth development.

MCE of Wa, Alhaji Tahiru Mumin said ” Talents abound here but goes waste because of the lack of facilities like what is about to be constructed. Today marks the end of the waste talent because of the construction of the multipurpose sports complex. ”

The almost ¢7m facility is expected to be completed nine months from now.

It accommodates a FIFA standard football pitch, an eight lane athletics tracks, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, ICT/ entrepreneurship/counselling centres, modern restaurant, a gym, washroom and flood lights.

Navrongo had its share of the sod cutting yesterday with Yendi crowning the nationwide ground breaking ceremony.
