Minister Inaugurates Ghana Post Board

Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has inaugurated a seven-member governing board of the Ghana Post Company.

Members of the board are George Afedzi Hayford, Abena Durowaa Mensah, James Kwofie, Desmond Brateng, Yiadom B. Kessie, Fredrick Akuffo-Gyimah and Michael Nana Yaw Aduhene Adu-Darko.

In a remark at the inauguration ceremony on Monday in Accra, the Communications Minister, challenged the new board “to refocus the company to take advantage of technology to improve service delivery.”

According to her, Ghana is digitizing rapidly which requires that the company begins to do things differently.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful noted, “It cannot be business as usual at Ghana Post and the new directions have been signaled by the implementations of the NDPAS.”

The vision of the board is to transform Ghana Post into a profitable, self-sustaining company to provide satisfaction to employees and customers.

She indicated that “as members of the Ghana Post governing board, your responsibility is to assist the management of the company to perform the above functions creditably.”

The minister urged the board to position to access all government services and E-services centres across the country.

She further urged the board to “work with private sector partners to modernize operations and deliver on the huge potential of e-commerce and digital financial services delivery to enhance our socio-economic development.”

Chairman of the Ghana Post Company Board, Afedzi Hayford, assured the Communications Minister and the government that they would work effectively with the members to make Ghana Post better.

Digital Center Board

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful also inaugurated six-member interim governing board of the Accra Digital Centre (ADC).

The board members are Abraham Kofi Asante, Chairman; Kosi Yankey, Eric Kofi Ofosu, Valorie Hudson, Gary Nimako, Clara Pinkrah-Sam.

She tasked the board to assist ADC to achieve its objective of driving the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry by providing companies and entrepreneurs with affordable office space and other facilities to enable them grow.
