The Princess Duncan Foundation has launched the maiden edition of its Miss Commonwealth Ghana beauty pageant at colourful ceremony held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The ceremony attracted a number of personalities such as the Vice President of National House of Chiefs, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, celebrities and a host of others.
Hiplife artistes such as Nero X, Dada Hafco and Teephlow thrilled audience with great performances at the ceremony.
Speaking at the launch, Princess Duncan, the reigning Miss Commonwealth International, said, “Miss Commonwealth Ghana aims at showcasing the rich Ghanaian and African cultures to promote peace among African nations and the entire world.”
She revealed that the lucky winner of the maiden edition of the pageant will receive a trophy, 2011 model of KIA Morning, a sponsored trip to UK to represent Ghana in Miss Commonwealth International next year.
First and second runner-ups will also be rewarded with a good amount of cash and other items from sponsors.
Princess Duncan disclosed that the initial stage of the pageant will have 20 ladies who will be groomed and nurtured before being whittled down to 12 for the finale in November.
