Sally Akua Amoakowaa Mensah

A new pageant dubbed ‘Miss Golden Stool’ has been launched to celebrate the rich culture of the people of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

First of its kind, the pageant is an initiative by two of Ghana’s Most Beautiful previous contestants, Sally Akua Amoakowaa Mensah and Dora B Acheampong.

It is not only a pageant to project the rich culture and values of the region but also to empower indigenes from the region and remind them of their sense of identity.

Audition for the pageant will be admitting ladies between the ages of 18 to 30.

Contestants must not necessarily be based in the region but must have a connection from the Ashanti Region.

After the audition, 20 finalists will be chosen; out of which will be shortlisted to 12.

The 12 will be housed for the commencement of the reality show.

Contestants will be required to execute tasks every week till the end of the pageant.

These tasks will be aimed at protecting the Ashanti culture to the world. The winner of the pageant will be unveiled on the eve of Akwasidae which falls on December 18.

“The pageant will help to attract tourists. We are looking at strategically putting out special tasks that will make people come from far and near to have a first-hand experience of it. The winner will also have a mandate to promote proper sanitation measures in the Ashanti Region,” Sally stated.
