A significant number of people are using the Ghana card to register for the 2020 general elections.
Data from the Electoral Commission (EC) showing the 2020 voter registration proof of eligibility clearly indicates that about 63.6 percent of potential voters are using the Ghana Card to register in the ongoing registration exercise.
Only 2.1 percent of potential voters are using their passports to register.
A relatively significant number of people precisely 34.3 percent are relying on guarantors to register for the December 7, 2020 elections.
On Tuesday, June 30,
the Electoral Commission started compiling a new voters’ register for the presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2020.
The registration exercise is being held at all registration centres and district offices of the EC nationwide.
So far, a total of 3,000,000 persons have registered across the country.
The second phase of the registration exercise which began on Monday, July 6, would end on Saturday, July 11. On Sunday, July 12, the third phase of the exercise would begin and end on Friday, July 17, 2020.
