Movie Producers Urged To Hire Professional Actors

Diamond

Fast rising Ghanaian actress Eunice Afua Fenuku popularly known as Diamond has urged movie producers in the country to hire professional actors and not hype “social media actresses”.

She claimed that although social media, particularly Instagram, has developed into a breeding ground for aspiring actors to start their careers, this practice shouldn’t be supported.

“I know social media is a place to gain attention, but there are so many individuals there, especially some of the girls who have no skill but have large followings and seem to appeal to film makers.

“Their enormous following seems to aid in social media marketing and promotions. However, this causes the system to produce bad actors, which has a significant impact on the caliber of our films, she remarked.

Diamond stated she aims to use her position as an actor to inspire young girls, adding that she has plans collaborating with renowned film producers Shirley Frimpong Manso, Ivan Quashigah, and Peter Sedufia, among others on her upcoming projects.

“I’m pleased to serve as a model, an illustrator, or an instrument for advancing positivism in society. I can play any role in a movie, but I don’t want people to have unrealistic expectations of me or to stereotype me. I was really pleased when Yvonne Nelson stated that she entered the film industry to provide young women with opportunities without being sexually exploited. That’s how you should proceed, she added.
