Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa East Constituency in the Bono Region, Paul Twum Barima, has provided Senior High School (SHS) students with items on their school prospectus.
The items, including chop boxes, buckets, packets of sugar, Milo, Nido and soap, are to assist the students live comfortably as they begin school life in the boarding houses.
In all, over 300 students who got placement in various SHS schools throughout the country from the district benefitted from the package.
Presenting the items to the fresh students at Wanfie, New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency first vice chairman, Anthony Kwabena Oppong, said the gesture by the MP is to help lessen the burden of parents as they prepare to send their wards to school.
He explained that the distribution was not done on party line but any BECE student who qualified from the district and has placement to boarding schools benefited.
“In today’s era, without education and skills training it is difficult to make ends meet so as you get ready to begin secondary school life, you must take your studies serious and come out with flying colours.
The MP and the NPP Government under the able leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has laid a solid foundation awaiting for you to take advantage of after your secondary and tertiary education so don’t go and fail your parents or guardians,” he said.
According to him, this is the fourth time the MP has assisted parents to send their wards to school and urged the students and parents to offer prayers of good health and long life for Paul Apraku Twum Barima for his good gesture.
Many of the students the paper spoke to were happy for the gesture saying it will reduce burden on their parents many of who are peasant farmers.
