MTN Awards Mobile Money Agents

An Agent Receiving Receiving An Award

MTN Ghana has held the maiden edition of its Mobile Money Awards Night for more than 50 hardworking agents at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The agents received various prizes ranging from motorbikes, generator sets, televisions, rechargeable lamps, mobile phones, among other souvenirs.

Eli Hini, General Manager of Financial Services at MTN, indicated that the awards which was instituted by MTN Ghana is a landmark event to appreciate agents who have complied with the laid-down rules of operation of Mobile Money.

He stated that the rules of engagement for the service are comprehensively guided by a framework set by MTN Ghana, Bank of Ghana and the security administration.

“This evening’s engagement with our agents is about celebrating them, especially those who have exhibited professionalism in discharging their duties as far as Mobile Money service is concerned,” he cited.

Warning them against fraudulent acts and other engagements such as overcharging by agents, Mr Hini explained that MTN Ghana was collaborating with the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to do background checks on future applicants among other considerations before granting permits for them to operate as agents.

He further indicated that agents who have violated the rules of operations have been handed over to the law enforcement agencies, while others have also been blacklisted.

The awards night which has already been held for agents in Takoradi and Accra will be extended to the Ashanti and the three regions in the north.

Some of the agents who spoke to NEWS-ONE expressed their appreciation to MTN Ghana for the awards, describing it as a motivation for them to work harder.
