CHIEF CORPORATE Services and Sustainability Officer, MTN Ghana Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, has revealed that the company’s charitable wing, MTN Foundation, has completed 166 social projects across the country since its inception.
According to her, the foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through appropriate and sustainable corporate social responsibility interventions in the communities where MTN operates with equitable distribution of its infrastructure nationwide.
Out of the 166 projects, she said 90 projects are in education, 55 projects in healthcare, 15 in economic empowerment, and six in community support initiatives.
Some of the projects include the Mamfe Girls Robotics Laboratory, Yilo Krobo 40-seater ICT project, Wiamose ICT Facility Equipment, and Digital Health Diagnostic Equipment.
The foundation, she said, has also led community support programmes such as Digital Skills for Digital Jobs, Y’ello Care, Bright Scholarship for tertiary level STEM students, and enterprise programme tailored for youth, women, and differently-abled persons.
Madam Adwoa Wiafe further added that a total of GH¢106.5m was invested into its projects of which a total of 4.5 million lives have been directly and indirectly touched.
She further stated that the foundation envisions creating sustainable digital solutions that impact communities and touch 100,000 lives by 2025.
“At MTN we continue to embrace innovation to drive social change, nurture effective collaboration, and empower individuals in underserved communities,” she added.
Madam Adwoa Wiafe made this known at the 2024 edition of the Media Forum on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, at MTN House, Accra.
