MTN employee volunteer training beneficiaries on how to use Social Media to market their products in Walewale

MTN Ghana has trained 4,070 indigenous entrepreneurs through its 21-days of Y’ello Care Program thus exceeding the company’s target of training 3,000 local entrepreneurs this year.

The 2023 programme, which was held under the theme, ‘Empowering Entrepreneurs to Unlock Growth and Job Creation for Communities, had MTN Ghana employee volunteers training beneficiaries from the sixteen regions of the country.

This year’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care was linked to MTN’s 5-year strategic priority to support local grassroots entrepreneurs and help them to develop and market their products.

The exercise saw 2,420 youth, 1,480 women, and 170 differently-abled individuals benefiting from the program.

Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Adwoa Wiafe, commended the employees of MTN Ghana for taking time off to train the beneficiaries thus allowing the company to exceed its target.

“We are proud of the work our employees did in the community and we look forward to coming back soon to do a follow up of how this has improved their businesses,” she stated.

One of the employee volunteers, Daniel Boateng, shared that the experience was engaging.

“Having the opportunity to engage these entrepreneurs was not just fun, it was also a learning opportunity for us. By sharing our knowledge with the beneficiaries, we were also learning new ways of doing things,” he said.

A beneficiary of the programme, Mavis Akosua Mensah, said, “I am so excited that through Y’ello care, we have been armed with information and skills that can help us grow our businesses. One of the things I will always cherish was the session on how we can improve Customer Service. I really learnt a lot about dealing with difficult customers,” she shared.
