MTN PULSE, in collaboration with Stanbic Bank, has trained about 100 youth in digital skills and essential tools at the maiden edition of the digital skills training programme designed to empower the youth to excel in various aspects of life.

The youth were trained in three curated skills courses: basic, advanced, and highly specialised digital skills. The basic skills topics treated included technology and computer fundamentals, digital literacy, financial and data literacy, online safety, and remote working skills, among other areas.

Advanced skills covered areas such as cloud engineering, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), Programming, and Application Programming Interface (API) Development, among others, while highly specialized skills covered areas such as analytics, data science, software engineering, and blockchain.

In her remarks, Senior Manager, Segment Marketing, MTN Ghana, Nana Asantewaa Amegashie said the training of the youth is a significant step towards shaping their future by equipping them with the essential tools and digital skills they need to excel in this rapidly changing world.

“Digital literacy is no longer optional. It is the gateway to both personal growth and professional development in the modern era. Whether you want to start your own business, gain employment, or simply improve your everyday life, digital skills are the foundation that will propel you forward,” she mentioned.

This, she said, necessitated the partnership with Stanbic Bank, as their commitment to empowering the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders is in alignment with MTN Ghana’s digital literacy agenda.

“The collaboration between Stanbic Bank and MTN Pulse is much more than a partnership; it reflects our shared vision of youth empowerment.

Head of Personal Banking, Stanbic Bank Henry Opoku Agyemang said, “Whether you are new to digital tools or looking to refine your expertise, this training is designed to empower you with the skills that are crucial in today’s ever-evolving digital landscape.”

He said at Stanbic, the bank understands that the future of banking, and indeed most industries, is rapidly moving towards digitalisation, saying, “more than ever, digital skills have become essential to not only keeping pace with changes but also unlocking new opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and growth. This training reflects our commitment to equipping you with the knowledge and tools you need to thrive in this digital era.”

Opoku Agyemang assured the trainees of the bank’s dedication to guiding them through various areas and also fostering a culture of learning and digital excellence that will drive both personal and professional success.

The trainees who spoke to the paper expressed their gratitude to the two institutions pledging their commitment to make use of the digital training and tools to enhance their lives.
