Ghasty Yaaya Seidu
The mother of Corporal Ghasty Yaaya Seidu, the police officer arrested together with a civilian for robbery at Somanya, has stated that she will encourage her son to resign from the Ghana Police Service if he is acquitted and discharged.
The mother, identified only as Hajia, who lambasted the Ghana Police Service on top of her voice at the Koforidua Circuit Court on Monday, together with other family members and friends, also threatened to stop her other son from enlisting into the Police Service.
She accused personnel of the Police Service of vindictiveness and ‘pull him down’ attitude.
“I will let my son resign from Ghana Police Service. The soldiers do not do this to their colleagues. I will stop my son who is in the process of being enlisted. We know Allah is alive, Yaaya will be exonerated.”
Meanwhile, family members of the other accomplice – Seth Kpornya Dodzi, the private security man, are challenging the Police over his arrest.
They alleged that the victim of the robbery attack at Okwenya Fuel Station indicated that Dodzi was not involved.
They urged the Police to go for the CCTV camera at the Fuel filling station where the incident occurred to corroborate the fact that he wasn’t part of the robbery gang.
The Koforidua Circuit Court “A” on Monday April 30, 2018 remanded Corporal Ghasty Yaaya Seidu, who is attached to Akuse Police Station and Seth Kpornya Dodzi, a private security man with Star Oil Fuel filling station into custody.
The pleas of the accused persons were not taken because the Circuit Court “B” Judge had another assignment at Anyinam.
The angry police officer was dissatisfied with the failure of his counsel, Lawyer Apoli, to secure bail for him.
While walking out of the courtroom, Corporal Ghasty threatened to deal with his own colleagues, who took his pictures and circulated on social media.
The two accused persons- Corporal Ghasty Yaaya Seidu, 37, with service number 43255 and Seth Kpornyo Dodzi were arrested at Akosombo and Somanya respectively on April 26, 2018 after police intelligence revealed that they were involved in robberies which occurred a month ago.
