Charlie Dior
Fashion critic, Charles Tamakloe, popularly known as Charlie Dior, has revealed that most of the traumatic experiences he has had have been from his church.
“Most of the trauma and betrayal I’ve had in my life came from the church. The people in the church are the ones who gossip, backbite, and betray the most,” said Charlie Dior during an interview with Felicia Osei on Onua FM’s Adwuma Adwuma show.
Answering questions about why he stopped attending church, Charlie Dior explained that he had to stay away from the church to regain his mental health.
He recounted his experience of being segregated from the congregation when he went to church due to his appearance and his feminine personality, saying, “Sometimes when you go to church, the usher separates you from everybody else.”
He also highlighted some of the discriminatory practices that go on in the church such as separating pregnant but unmarried ladies from the congregation as a form of chastisement which further causes emotional breakdown and eventually drives them out of church.
Despite these awful experiences, Charlie said he intends to return to church, and is currently looking for a church to worship with.
He revealed that his former pastor has been encouraging him to return to church and is considering returning but not to the same church he left.
Charlie Dior came to the limelight a couple of years ago after some videos of him reviewing the fashion styles of celebrities during events went viral.
The red-carpet critic has since been well-known for his blunt and honest remarks about the fashion sense of celebrities including Sarkodie, Nana Ama McBrown, and others.
He has also worked with prominent US blogs such as Shaderoom, Industry on Blast, and others.
