The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has begun the process for the development of a teacher and learner resource materials to support the implementation of the Common Core Curriculum Programme (CCP) to be introduced by the government in September 2020.
NaCCA Executive Secretary, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, addressing participants at a nine-day workshop on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, emphasized the need for the teacher and learner resource packs to complement the effective implementation of the CCP scheduled to be rolled out.
In addition, Dr. Armah reiterated that the resource packs would only serve as a ‘stop gap’ measure, as schools wait for the development of textbooks and teacher’s guides from publishers for the implementation of the CCP subjects-Curricula for B7-B10.
He commended participants for demonstrating a higher level of commitment and dedication to improve Ghana’s educational system through the reformation of the curriculum.
He thanked participants for their continuous support, and encouraged them to give off their very best to ensure that the ultimate goal of making learners locally relevant and globally competitive through education is achieved.
In all, a total of 60 writers and two resource persons from Cambridge International, UK are participating in the workshop.
The material developers were drawn from the Teacher Training Institutions, Universities, Educational Consultants, Curriculum Specialists and Classroom Teachers (JHS and SHS).
