NADMO Assists Ayensuano

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has donated relief items to residents of Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region who recently had their properties destroyed by a rainstorm.

The items given out to the twenty eight (28) communities affected by the rainstorm included: mattresses, roofing sheets, bags of rice, buckets, cups, bowls and washing basins.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that houses, schools and churches, clinic and shops were spared by the rainstorm which lasted for about 40 minutes last Tuesday afternoon.  Affected areas include; Akyem – Akroso, Abirim, Akyem Oda, Asuboi, Teacher Mante, Adimadim, Amanase, Kpong, Akuapem – Adukrom, Oduamse – Krobo and other surrounding villages.

Samuel Aye Paye, the Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and NADMO for their quick response to the plight of his constituents during their difficult moments.

Presenting the items to the assembly members at Asuboi, the MP noted that, there are many challenges the residents are facing; some which he mentioned as, deforestation, antique buildings and lack of maintenance; which need urgent solution.

The District Chief Executive for Ayensuano, Florence Govina on her part advised the residents of the affected communities to be wary of their abodes and strengthen the structures to avoid incidents in rainy seasons.

The Ayensuano District NADMO officer, Joseph Okai noted that there have been several cautions from the Meteorological Service to the Ghanaian public whenever it is about to rain to alert them for any eventuality.

He also disclosed that the President has already employed some people to carry out afforestation in the district to reduce rain-season disasters.
